چکیده
Proximal striping is a valuable tool for gaining space. The aim of this study was to collect evidence related to proximal striping by conducting a survey. Two hundred orthodontists filled the specially designed questionnaire. 95% of respondents did proximal stripping in their patients.83 % respondents felt that teeth become more susceptible to caries but only 13.5% of them had actually seen cases where caries had developed because of proximal stripping. When asked whether they were aware of the terminology Air rotar stripping, 67.5% said yes. 80.5% were of the opinion that shape of the teeth were deformed after proximal stripping. 55% respondents did proximal stripping to treat relapse cases and 67% of them felt that proximal stripping prevents relapse in lower anterior crowding. 55.5% of respondents felt that sensitivity develops after proximal stripping however, 54% reported to have actually seen where patients developed sensitivity after interproximal stripping. Out of the total 86.5% respondents felt that fluoride application should be done to make the teeth more resistant to caries. Proximal striping is a valuable tool for gaining space, treating relapse cases and the technique has become popular after the use of air rotar and clear aligners to treat malocclusion.

Interproximal enamel reduction as a part of orthodontic treatment.
OBJECTIVE Interproximal enamel reduction is a part of orthodontic treatment for gaining a modest amount of space in the treatment of crowding. Today interproximal enamel reduction has become a viable alternative to the extraction of permanent teeth, and helps to adjust the Bolton Index discrepancy. The aim of the study is to evaluate various interproximal enamel reduction techniques, its indica...
متن کاملEnamel reduction procedures in orthodontic treatment.
Various combinations of enamel reduction procedures can be used to create space between teeth, to correct discrepancies between mandibular and maxillary teeth and to correct morphologic anomalies during orthodontic treatment. In particular, acid-enhanced interproximal enamel reduction significantly reduces surface roughness. This article presents a review of the literature on enamel reduction p...

Artificial abrasion of interproximal surfaces has been described for almost seventy years as orthodontic intervention for achievement and maintenance of ideal treatment outcome. A variety of terms and approaches have been introduced throughout this period implying a growing clinicians' interest. Nevertheless, the widespread recognition of enamel stripping technique was initiated by the advent o...

The attempt of this article was to assess reliability of Little's Irregularity Index (LII) as for stability of the treatment outcomes in adults with crowded mandibular incisors. LII was measured on a digital cast prior to an orthodontic treatment (T1) of the 302 patients thus allowing us to establish the treatment plan, which called for (a) expansion (group 1), interproximal stripping (group 2)...
متن کاملCreating Space with Interproximal Reduction
One of the basic principles of orthodontics is the creation of space to facilitate tooth movement. With appropriate case selection, slenderization offers the ability to safely obtain sufficient space for tooth movement without the need for extractions and without compromising slenderized teeth. Introduction Creating space to facilitate tooth movement is one of the basic principles of orthodonti...
